OUR VISION

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE STORY

WELCOME TO
TWO OAKS.

OUR PROMISED
LAND
.

We prayed and trusted God for a place of our own, which we can call home.

Through our intercession, we received the following word: John 14: 2-3, and it spoke to us that Jesus had prepared a place for us.

FOCUSING
ON THE CHILDREN

We also felt that God told us to focus on ministry to children. We should look for a venue that works for the children’s church before seeking a place for the main church auditorium.

We are so excited about our new property, and the many rooms that would work perfectly for our kids’ church.

FULFIL OUR VISION

With the vision to establish ourselves at the Two Oaks property we have a number of projects to pursue.

From the outset we need to service the bond, build the main auditorium/church hall and equip our childern’s ministry areas. Further community focussed developments will also be done and we are exploring our options in this regard.

You are invited to partner with us as we embark on this faith journey. Please contact us at helderberg@shofaronline.org if you have any questions or would like to know more.

SECURE THE PROPERTY
COMPLETED

Before we could get started, we needed to sow the seeds of faith through prayer. Trusting God for a venue, and the funds to secure a bond to buy it.
Your generous contributions during our previous fundraisers allowed us to raise R 1.7 million of the funds we needed to buy the property.

SERVICE THE BOND
AND CONSTRUCT THE
MAIN AUDITORIUM

Now that we have secured the venue, we need to raise funds to service the loans we’ve taken on. To achieve this, we need to reach a debit order target of R25 000 per month, and R2 000 000 in capital funding.

OUR VISION IN DETAIL

A HOME FOR SHOFAR SOMERSET WEST

The first verse that comes to mind is where Jesus says to His disciples:

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
John 14:2-3

This is one of the most glorious anchors of our hope, that Jesus has gone to be with the Father to prepare a heavenly home for us. But I also firmly believe that Jesus has been busy these past 10 years, ever since we started meeting at De Hoop, to prepare a place for us as a church family. A place that is so much more than just brick and stone, but a home. A home consisting of living stones – God’s people. The building in itself is not the most exciting thing, even though it has such great potential; neither the location, even though we could not have asked for anything more central. It is the opportunity we now have to partner with Jesus to build a home for coming generations. A home that will be a house of prayer, available 24/7, where we will passionately worship our King, where we will freely share the mercy we have received from God, and where we will continue to give generously and extravagantly to the work of the Kingdom.

A LIGHTHOUSE IN THE BASIN

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14 (ESV)

The time has come for us to shine a beacon of hope to those being tossed about by the waves of this world. We are a lighthouse built upon a rock, able to withstand the fiercest of storms. This church family has been faithful through many seasons, some exhilarating and others extremely challenging. We now stand on the threshold of entering into a new season of permanency and stability. The time has come to boldly shine our light and to point to the rock of our salvation, Jesus Christ, the only true source of hope and comfort. This building and this process are ultimately not about us, but about having a visible and tangible presence in our community that can be a lighthouse of rest, faith, and true community.

A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE PROVISION OF THE CROSS AND THE NEED OF THE WORLD

“All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…”
2 Corinthians 5:18 (ESV)

We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the volunteers and staff who have sacrificed so much over the years.  Without them, Sunday services, bible school, encounters, and other church events would not have happened within an environment that was constantly changing from one week to the next, sometimes from one day to the next. The stability that comes from having our own venue, where we don’t have to focus on rebuilding from scratch every Sunday, will allow us to invest more energy into building up people and equipping the saints for the work of serving the world around us with the gifts He has given us. We have committed ourselves to constantly seek God’s face for ways in which we can be a blessing to those around us, not just on Sundays, but throughout the week.
